Plan Your Rayson Winery TourLooking for RayLen Vineyards? You are in the right place. In December 2023, RayLen Vineyards & Winery in Mocksville was purchased by JW and Kristen Ray, the owners of JOLO Winery & Vineyards in Pilot Mountain, and reopened as Rayson Winery & Vineyards.
Same property, same mature vines — new name, new ownership, and a significantly expanded food and tasting program.
RayLen Vineyards & Winery was founded in 1999 by Joe and Joyce Neely, who transformed a former Davie County dairy farm into one of the Yadkin Valley's best-known wineries. After Joe Neely's passing in 2021, the family continued running the winery before announcing its sale.
In late 2023, JoLo Brands, LLC — a subsidiary of JOLO Winery & Vineyards — finalized the purchase. JOLO was founded by JW Ray in 2013 and operates an 80-acre estate in the shadow of Pilot Mountain. The transition was deliberately seamless: the doors closed one night as RayLen and reopened as Rayson, with a soft reopening in early December 2023.
The new name honors family, just as JOLO did. Rayson comes from JW and Kristen Ray's two sons, Joey and Logan Ray — the Ray sons.
What stayed: the property, the mature estate vineyard (vines now over two decades old), and the reputation for quality that RayLen built over 20+ years.
What changed: the JOLO team took over winemaking, guest services, and day-to-day operations. The tasting room was renovated, and in May 2024 the winery opened Bistro Europa, a full restaurant that went on to earn an OpenTable Diner's Choice Award, with dining further expanded in October 2024. Rayson is a 21+ venue.

Because the same family owns both wineries, Rayson in Mocksville and JOLO in Pilot Mountain make a natural pair on a single day out — two distinct properties, one winemaking philosophy. They sit about 40 minutes apart, which fits comfortably into a day with time for lunch.
Plan on roughly 1.5 hours at each winery plus drive time. If your group wants a food-forward day rather than a tasting marathon, Bistro Europa at Rayson is one of the strongest lunch stops in the valley — worth booking ahead.
